Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I have very curly hair and it definitely depends on your hair type, so experimenting with it is essential-- it took me years to figure out how to deal with my hair.

Having said that, this is what I do (just as an idea of my hair type, my yahoo icon is pretty much acurate as a cartoon version of my hair)

I wash my hair at night. You can do it in the morning, too, I just don't like to because you should not blow dry curly hair! If you must, use a diffuser. I use very little shampoo, and I don't always use it all. Experiment, some people say this does wonders for their hair, some don't like it. But shampoo, in general, just dries out hair, and a really important part of having managable hair is moisturizing it.

I leave in my conditioner for as long as I can, I generally put it in first and then rinse it out at the end of my shower. Then I dry my hair with a t shirt (towels seem to seperate ringlets because they are rough) by squeezing the water out, not by rubbing.

After that I put in leave in conditioner, then curl cream and go to sleep on it really wet, with it spread around my head on the pillow. I've been told that it's good to get a silk pillowcase because a rougher textured pillowcase can also seperate ringlets.

In the morning when I get up I sometimes put gel on it on top of everything else. I use lots of products... this is not neccesarily a good idea, but that's what I do.

I hope some of that works for you!

oh, and someone else mentioned the book 'curly girl' and I definitely second that, it's got a lot of ideas and tips, you can try things and see what works for you, as well as be inspired by all the beautiful pics of curly hair.

well it depends When i want curly hair i scrunch it using curls rock by catwalk and totally twisted by herbal essence! or if i want it straight i use my chi to straighten it! is that what you were asking

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I use a shampoo, conditioner and styling products by TIGI called 'Curls Rock!' and let my hair dry naturally. I'm left with pretty, soft curls that don't get frizzy towards the end of the day!

I use John Frieda's Frizz Ease and shrunch it. It really works after a shower, but I would use a diffusuer on your hairdryer or let it air dry. Mine always gets frizzy when I don't.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

hi girl, i think the natural style of hair is splendid

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I style my hair in the morning by wetting it with a spray bottle then using moose. I then scrunch it to get the spiral curls more defined. Next, I either pull it half way back and put a clip in or I part my hair on one side and put one of the elastic head bands on.

A lot of the times I straighten my hair also. I know that is a pain, but I like how my hair looks so much better. It takes for ever thought.

If your hair is thick enough I have found that layers or having your hair thinned help as well. I have layers now and I like it better than thinning. I always used to get my hair thinned, but the layers are easier for me.

I use Redken color extend shampoo and conditioner every other day (color extend because I dye my hair) and after I get out of the shower I spray VO5 leave-in conditioner all over my hair, then comb it through with a wide-toothed comb. Avoid brushing your hair, it'll make it frizzier and the comb should work well enough. I part my hair where I feel like wearing it for the day (I'll give some style examples and tips at the end) and use the comb to make it lay down on both sides of the part. Then, I use garnier fruitesse curl construct mousse and blow-dry using a diffuser while scrunching. Don't blow dry it completely or it may frizz. Then, I spray Tresemme shine spray on the frizzy spots and finish the style off with Tresemme "take deux" hairspray.

Here are some variations you can try:

Using a comb part your hair diagonally to the side, start at the side of your head and diagonally part your hair towards the center.

Part your hair in the center and blow-dry until it is barely damp, then use your hands to sweep all of your hair into a low ponytail, then clip it using a large "claw" clip on the left or right side.

Part your hair in the center and then pull it "half-up" Then, pull about 1/2" out of the front, so it hangs around your face a little, then pull the rest of the hair (your still holding) into a clip or elastic. NOTE: When you pull it half-up make sure you don't lose your part.

I get this stuff called Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock, it works GREAT!!! It doesn't cost a lot either. It's a whole line of products that hydrate your curls, keeps them from getting frizzy, it's not heavy, and it last.

I use it along with a diffuser on low with medium heat

I use Pantene everything. Wash your curls in the moring, work a healthy dose of conditioner through them with your fingers. Wait a little, shower the conditioner out, Shake it a little to get the excess water out, then use a little gel worked through with your fingers and go!. Avoid hair dryers. Perfect curls all day long.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I spray pantene curl refine spray in my hair after shower %26amp; I use biolage mouse %26amp; it does the trick i pull through some %26amp; let air dry.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I wash every OTHER day with Pantene Pro-V Hydrating Curls Shampoo. I condition EVERY day with Pantene Pro-V Hydrating Curls Conditioner. Every time I get out of the shower I use Pantene Pro-V Curl Defining Leave-In Conditioner. Once I apply the leave-in, I re-wrap my hair in a bath towel and leave it to dry like that for 20-25 minutes while I do other things. This helps reduce frizz while adding volume to the root of my hair. I take the towel off and either blow dry with a diffuser or let it air dry. If it's humid or windy I'll use Pantene Pro-V Curl Shaper Anti-Frizz Creme. For a more defined look I'll spray on Pantene Pro-V Frizz Control Treatment before I blow dry.

I have a cowlick on my forehead so I part my shoulder-length hair WITH the cowlick, off-center and it lays pretty well. If I wanted it straight (as if!) I would have to go to a stylist because I am not all about straightening my own hair, it never works right because of the stubborness of the curls!!!

Other products I've used and liked include Tigi CatWalk "Curls Rock" and Matrix Curl Life. I find that NOT shampooing every day and always using a leave-in helps with the frizz and defines my curls for more control. I also like to avoid mousse and gel because i don't like my curls to be sticky or crunchy.

Good luck!

Very slowly, lol.

I have very thick, very coarse curly hair, so styling takes heat and time, which is why i always put in a leave in conditioner right out of the shower. This help alleviate some of the inevitable damage. My favorite style is Farrah hair! turned down a notch... or not.

Dry hair, by any means necessary. then i straighten it with my curling iron. I have a straight iron but they're extremely hot and i've found it damages my hair way too much. I'll put in some kind of hair serum to smooth it out a little more. Then i use hot rollers (i know i know more torture) to create a loose smooth curl as opposed to the frizzy tight curls i was "blessed" with. I only leave them in 10 min or so, don't want to create tight ringlets.

Good luck! I feel your pain.

Well if I wash my hair the night before I like to add KMScurling product and spray it with hairspray, and just scrunch it and go to bed. Then in the morning I use a leave-in conditioner and I have diluted it with water and put it in a spray bottle, I like to spray my hair down and just re-scrunch it with KMS curling spray....it works really well. The leave-in conditioner is great to help your hair from getting frizzy by adding some more moisture. then I like to finish it off with a little bit of pomade to extra volume and shine! I've worked long and hard on this....and it can be a bit time consuming but it works REALLY really well! I get lots of compliments on my hair!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

i usually just brush it out after a shower and put frizz products in it and let it lay out by itself.....

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

sometimes straight and sometimes i just use a little mousse and dryer and DONE!!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

i use herbal essences none of ur frizziness shampoo and conditioner.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I use this stuff by Nutrisse called soft curl cream. It is awesome, I just put it in my hair wet and I am good to go. Also, when I have time, I use the cream and then blow dry my hair with a diffuser for the extra volume and curls.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

there is a really good book with lots of information about curly hair. it is called Curly Girl. i highly reccomend you read that book, it is filled with tons of information that will help you. it tells you how you should wash your hair, dry your hair, it tells you what products to use, and has a bunch of great tips. give it a try, you wont regret it.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

i use a leave in conditioner then scrunch - if i want volume i will put the side up into a big clip loosey while it dries then let it down and go!!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I am one of those kinda wild curly haired girls, so I let my hair mean what I do... I use mouse when I get out of the shower, then a drier with the diffuser, then I squish it in my hand while doing that, then I add Vavoom, finishing spray then I use the Vavoom ultra hold with frizz control.. If you wanna see how I do it I have alot of pictures... good luck

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I use Pantene's curl products, mainly the mouse and hairspray. I put them in my hair when it is wet then I dry it scrunching it up to help make sure that it dries evenly and that my curls are not too tight. If I leave it wet I use the same products and just pin the front of it to give it a little style! When it is short I like to let it dry on its own and use cute clips or things like that to give it a different look.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I use a shampoo and conditioner for curls. Right now, I'm using Herbal Essences Totally Twisted. Then I use "Soft Curls" by Suave (which works surprisingly well for a Suave product) and scrunch that in and use a diffuser on the low setting and bow-dry upside down while scrunching. I finish with a non-aerosol hairspray.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

i take a shower at night the put it in 6 braids (3 on each side.) and in the morning i take it out and then run a com thew my hair and then IT'S CURLY YA!!!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

cute results i swear!!! use a styling gel like "Curls Up!" and scrunch it into your hair after tou shower. Then let it dry naturally. GORGEOUS!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I comb my hair out and put in frizz ease, i let it dry a little bit for about five minutes and then put in mouse enough to evenly cover my whole head, i let it dry for another five minutes and spray it with hairspray.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I usually scrunch it when im done taking a shower, it keeps my curls bouncy and i think it looks really cute

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

any kind of gel or mouse after a shower at night, sleep on it and wake up and put a little hair spray in it. it looks fresh and doesn't give it the lame "wet" look. natural but nice. try it, you'll like it

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

i use a diffuser with curl shaping spray gel...works AWSOMe

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

I use a volumizing (believe it or not) shampoo by Biolage. As well as the conditioner. You should use plenty of conditioner...if your hair still feels dry/coarse after you put your conditioner in, add more! Let it sit in your hair for about 3 minutes, and then rinse with water that is on the cooler side...conditioner works better with cooler water, it leaves your hair shinier and softer. After you get out, put in plenty of leave in conditioner (I love love Biolage anything), comb through your hair %26amp;make sure its a wide-toothed comb, not a brush. Brushes will break your hair make it even more damaged and frizzy. After combing add more leave in conditioner and then put it back up in your towel for as long as you can. The towel helps the leave-in conditioner soak in to your hair. You can either dry it with a diffuser on your hair-dryer or let it dry naturally. Wash your hair every other day and condition every day. You will have healthy, pretty curls if you follow this advice! Good luck!

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

re-curl it with a tiny curling iron. And then bobby-pin each curl to the back of your head.

Curly haired girls: How do you style your hair for best results?

When I want my hair to be really manageable and nice looking I use a flat iron. There are some really nice cheap ones.

Other than that I just put my hair up, but that's just because it's way too unmanageable otherwise.
