What are some hair-healthy hairstyles for African American girls without a perm?

I have to go through a lot of steps to get my thick curly hair into any style. I need some other methods to style my hair.

Hey There!

I am actually working hard to grow OUT my perm..and wear my hair all natural!

But ya know...we still have to go to work/school!

So our hair still needs to look nice.

Let me start you off by asking you to go to www.nappturality.com

Click Napptural Gallery

Then just scroll to anyone's photo who's hairstyle you think you like.

What you do then is .... look for a link that says "my photo album" or "my fotki account" or something like that -- clicking that link will take you to their "hair journals".....

- those journals are very educational because they take you thru their daily routines of how to style natural hair.

I really do hope this helps a little.

I'm still trying to learn how to style my natural hair as well!

It sounds like you and I have the same kind of hair. I've been natural for almost 3 years now. I've been wearing mine in two-strand twists. I get cornrows on occassion.
